New Castle, WY

I was too tired to share with you the experience I had at the Stardust motel last night, so figured I would do you the honor tonight. New Castle is about 50 miles from Mt. Rushmore and maybe 100 0r so from Sturgis, so between the Rushmore tourists and the Sturgis bikers, it was difficult to find a room. I had to settle for the Stardust. The lady at the counter said she only had one single, and that it was small. I didn't mind so much, I just needed a place to lay my head, shower and access the internet.....isn't there a 'code' motels have to abide by to be in compliance with...I don't know...Good Housekeeping? Seriously? Welcome to Room #13, go figure, good thing I'm not superstitious or last night could have been a lot worse. When she said my room number I couldn't help but think of John Cusack in the movie "1403". Anyway, notice the mattress, yes, that was outside my room...I guess I can be thankful it wasn't "in" my room. And that window you see to the left of the door....it ain't mine. Shall we proceed?

This is the first sight seen when walking into the room....oh, and that is my second window (the first one, in case you missed it, was in the door). This photo has not been doctored...it is literally that narrow. And coming out of the window is the hose for the portable a/c unit. Moving on, let's see what happens when we step inside and close the door. Just big enough to fit a bed and night stand. Oh...I forgot to take a picture of the bathroom....where my third window was, the curtain was a vinyl shower curtain cut to fit the window. But who am I to judge? And at least they provided complimentary soap.....from Holiday Inn Express. Yep, the complimentary soap was from another hotel.
And good thing I brought my own pillow.....otherwise I would have had to use these ones........

Despite all this, I did manage to sleep and when I got up, wasted no time in getting out of there.
Even after I showered I felt 'itchy'. So figured I would do myself a favor and splurge on a nice hotel tonight, to wash the itchy-ness away. And that is exactly what I did. I am currently in Ainsworth, Nebraska with a king size bed, a recliner and a desk to sit and type. Hope you have enjoyed New Castle. Actually, I shouldn't let this motel give it a bad rap, because as I was driving thru, I was actually thinking to myself what a cute little town it is....just make reservations if ever you find yourself on Hwy 16 in Northeast Wyoming.
